School session
The academic year runs from April to March in three terms: April to July, August to December, and January to March.
Our motto
The motto, “The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Knowledge”, is taken from the Holy Bible, Proverbs 1:7. Through it, the school teaches students to fear and obey God, which is the beginning of all wisdom and blessing in life.
Discipline
Discipline is a top priority. “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).
The school values both inner discipline (self-restraint and moral character) and administrative discipline: punctuality, neatness, silence in classrooms, regular homework, the use of English in school, respect for teachers and elders, care for the young, cleanliness, diligence and good citizenship.
Hostels
The school has separate hostel buildings for boys and girls, each with 150 seats. The hostels are under the supervision of the Principal and the Wardens. Students from outside Aizawl are encouraged to stay in the school hostels rather than private hostels. Blazers are compulsory for boarders.
Care for every student
- Children of pastors and missionaries receive a 50% concession on session fees, irrespective of denomination.
- If the earning parent of a current student dies, the student receives free education until he or she graduates from the school.
- Refugee students from Myanmar and Manipur have received free education at the school since 2023.

Free education for refugee students
Students from Myanmar honoured the Principal with a traditional shawl, in thanks for the free education given to refugee students. Refugee students from Myanmar and Manipur, affected by internal disturbances, have studied free of cost at the school since 2023.
Co-curricular activities
Co-curricular activities are a vital part of the school, because education is incomplete without good character. Students take part in sports, music, dance, quizzes, debates, trekking and educational trips.
Alumni
The Carmelians Alumni Association was formed in 2012, on the school's 25th anniversary. It is a non-political, voluntary organisation of past students and teachers that supports the school and keeps former students connected. Meet our distinguished Carmelians on the Alumni page.
